After dinner on board the tour guide will take you for a city walk through the beautiful city centre of Haarlem.

Today you will cycle along a beautiful route to Schoonhoven – nicknamed Zilverstad (“Silver City”) – a city renowned for its talented silver smiths since the 17th century. Later in the day as you cycle through the Alblasserwaard region you will reach Kinderdijk, a village famous for its impressive row of 19 large windmills. All 19 windmills have a UNESCO cultural heritage listing and are a definite highlight – you will have the opportunity to visit one so don’t forget to bring your camera! From nearby Alblasserdam you will take the “Waterbus”, a fast ferry, that will take you and your bicycle in approx. 10 minutes to Dordrecht, one of the oldest towns in Holland.

After breakfast you will cycle out of Leiden. You will travel through the ‘green heart’ of the Netherlands. Near Zoeterwoude you will visit a cheese farm where you can see how cheese is made. Of course you will also get the chance to taste the result! In the afternoon you will reach Gouda, famous for its Gouda cheese, candles and syrup waffles. Gouda has an attractive compact centre and a beautiful market square with a Gothic town hall. The main church of Gouda, dedicated to John the Baptist, is world famous for its stained glass windows. After dinner you can once again take part in a walk through the city. Then you cycle on to the destination of this trip, Bergen op Zoom. Bergen op Zoom is a historic fortified town that once lay on the open waters of the Oosterschelde. After dinner you can take a walk through the old town. Narrow streets, old town, market and church squares and idiosyncratic monumental buildings show the history of a rich and eventful past that goes back more than eight hundred years.

At 6:30 am you can have an early cup of coffee. Then you cycle to the largest flower auction in Europe, in Aalsmeer. Every day, huge quantities of flowers are delivered and sold here, after which they are distributed throughout Europe. After your visit you return on board (around 9 am) for a late breakfast while the ship sails to Amsterdam. Enjoy the view on this beautiful cruise through the city. Today’s bike tour takes you from Amsterdam to the Zaanse Schans, a unique place where people live and work, with original houses and windmills from the Zaan region. This place is dominated by working windmills. The oldest one was built in 1673, and they were placed for grinding mustard, spices, paint and oil and for sawing wood into planks. As you walk through the village you will see a clock museum, an old-fashioned grocery store, a house with antique furniture, a clog maker and a cheese farm. Flora, Gandalf & Sarah: At the end of the afternoon you will cycle to Purmerend, where you will spend the night.
This morning you will cycle to the Hortus Bulborum, a unique garden museum dedicated to the preservation of rare and historic bulbs.
